18 people who tilted during Vietnamese thunderstorm died, 23 missing – Country

State media reported that a tourist boat suddenly tilted in a thunderstorm in Vietnam on Saturday afternoon during a sightseeing tour, killing 18 people, leaving nearly twenty missing.

The wonderful sea boat reportedly carried 48 passengers and 5 crew members during the tourist’s popular destination Ha Long Bay.

The Vnexpress newspaper said rescuers rescued 12 people and recovered 18 bodies near the site of capsizing. 23 people are still missing.

The newspaper said that due to the strong wind, the ship was upside down. Among the survivors is a 14-year-old boy who was rescued after being trapped in a capsized hull for four hours.

The newspaper said most of the passengers were about 20 children from Hanoi, the capital of the country, including about 20 children.

Tropical storms are also heading towards the area. National weather forecast says storm Wipha is expected to hit northern Vietnam next week, including the Ha Long Bay coast.
