Alliance Minister HD Kumaraswamy said the transformative initiative opened the door for global electric vehicle giants, promoting investment, sustainability and innovation.

“The launch of the portal under the SPMEPCI program opens new avenues for global electric vehicle manufacturers to invest in India’s rapidly growing automotive landscape. The program not only supports our national commitment to achieve net zero between 2070 and 2070, but also strengthens our determination to build a sustainable innovation-driven economy,” he said. ”

He wrote on X (formerly Twitter) that the program will promote domestic manufacturing, create jobs and strengthen our position as a global EV hub.

Last date for foreign electric vehicle manufacturers to apply

Interested manufacturers will be able to submit their applications until October 21, 2025 at 6 pm.

The portal starts applying from 10:30 am on June 24.

Heavy Industry Minister Kamran Rizvi said the electric vehicle program aims to develop India as a hub for the global electric and electric vehicle ecosystem.

When asked about the possible shortage of potential rare earth magnets in the country, the official said efforts are being made to provide magnets from Vietnam and Japan.

China controls 90% of such magnet processing, which is used in a range of industries and applications, including electric vehicles, clean energy and defense.

The plan is strategically formulated to position India as a global hub for EV manufacturing

According to an official press release, the Modi government’s plan to promote the manufacturing of electric vehicles in India will:
