Colorado prosecutors raised charges Monday against alleged Boulder terror suspects after the death of an 82-year-old woman, who was injured in a cocktail in the June 1 attack.

The woman was identified as Karen Diamond in court documents. The Boulder County District Attorney’s Office said she “die tragically died due to the serious injuries suffered in the attack.”

“I was shocked to hear the death of Karen Diamond,” Colorado Governor Jared Polis said in a statement Monday. “The loss is deeply felt by the Boulder community and our entire state, especially in our strong Jewish community. I express my heartfelt condolences to her friends and family. Karen took it from us too early and we mourn her loss as we recall her life and her impact on those who love her.”

Mohamed Sabry Soliman was charged with 12 hate crimes last week in the June 1 attack in the heart of Boulder. He was accused of trying to kill eight people injured when he threw a Molotov cocktail – bottles filled with ignited flammable liquid and others nearby.

Soliman’s attorney David Kraut signed a plea on guilty on behalf of Soliman at a hearing Friday. Soliman is represented by public defenders who do not comment to the news media.

Investigators said Soliman told them he intends to kill about 20 participants during weekly demonstrations at the Pearl Street Pedestrian Mall in Boulder. But he threw only two of more than twenty Molotov cocktails while shouting “Free Palestine.”

Soliman, who was also charged in state court for attempted murder and other charges, told investigators that he tried to buy a firearm but could not be because he was not a “legal citizen.”
