If Ross’ name sounds familiar, you may remember his prodigy-building – the striking C3/C6 hybrid that we’ve come up lately. But before that, C36: The ambitious fusion first brought him onto our radar.

The name “C36” comes from the constructed DNA, a fusion of elements from his favorite third-generation (C3) and sixth-generation (C6) Corvettes. Ross told us that he has always loved the C3’s iconic silhouette, but it doesn’t drive it much.

“I’m a big fan of classic design, but not their way of driving,” he explained. A sentiment among builders, such as the popularity of the old-fashioned modern driving Resto-Mods.

The idea of ​​combining two generations into one seamless build is exciting, but pulling it apart? A completely different story. Ross invested thousands of hours on the C36, starting with a consistent plan.

“I firmly believe that every large building needs a solid plan,” he said. “I often see project implementations that reflect the needs of builders, but they don’t work with the overall concept.

Two cars become one

The C36 started life with the 2008 C6 Z06 donor chassis and powertrain and had the body of the 1969 Corvette Convertible, remodeled. But Ross didn’t stop building one for himself, and he set out to recreate it several times.

“My four friends wanted the C36, too,” he said. “So that means I had to create the main plug for the entire car and then produce about 80 molds to copy it. That’s where thousands of hours really add up.”

This level of dedication is often reserved for elite custom stores like Ringerross, known for its comprehensive and precise versions. However, Ross uses it as a personal project, purely driven by passion.

The final product is a true fusion: the side profile retains the classic C3 shape while borrowing modern touches (such as the C6 side marking lights and Z06 brake vents). From the rear, it holds the C3’s ducktail, but stretches it 9.5 inches and integrates C6 taillights and custom value for modernization.

Inside, the cabin is all C6-turned to the right-hand drive, fitting Rose’s home road in Australia and modified to match the angle of the C3’s windshield.

Under the hood, Ross retains the heart of the Z06: the beloved 427 engine. But how does driving something that looks like a ’69 Stingray and feels like a modern Z06?

“It drives exactly like the C6 Z06,” Ross said. “Because that’s its essence, under the skin of a heavily modified C3-inspired body.”
