Ukraine (Kyiv) (Reuters) – Ukraine has confirmed that China is providing a range of important products to Russian military factories, Ukraine’s foreign intelligence minister was quoted on Monday.

“There is information that China provides machine tools, special chemical products, gunpowder and components specifically for the defense manufacturing industry,” Oleh Ivashchenko told Ukrinform State News Agency.

“We have confirmed data on 20 Russian factories,” he said.

Reuters asked China’s Foreign Ministry to comment.

Since Moscow sent tens of thousands of troops to Ukraine in February 2022, China has established closer trade and other economic relations with Russia, thus achieving closer trade and other economic relations.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said last month that China was providing weapons and gunpowder to Russia, the first time he publicly accused Beijing of providing direct military aid to Moscow.

China regards the allegation as “badly unfounded”, but Kiev imposed sanctions on three Chinese entities.

Ivashchenko said Ukrainian intelligence companies had at least five Russian-China cooperation cases in the aviation sector in 2024-2025, including the supply of equipment, spare parts and documents.

He added that there are six cases of “large-scale transport” specialty chemicals, without providing details.

Reuters cannot independently confirm the claim.
