“Can anyone confirm my wife’s spending be delusional?” He pointed out that it cost $6,769 to eat in just 90 days.

A frustrated husband of R/Dave Ramsey Subreddit’s recent Reddit post caught people’s attention after asking whether his wife’s spending habits were not up to date. His main complaint? The family spent $6,769 on their own meals over the past 90 days.

“Luckily, we are positive net worth,” he wrote. “But she delayed our retirement and said her spending was normal for having 2 kids. I covered 80-90% of the essentials from me.”

According to his breakdown, they also spent $1,330 on groceries during the same period, as well as $1,230 on consumables, $1,250 on health care, $560 on gasoline, and $1,200 on other expenses.

Responses were quick and almost consistent. One commenter was particularly direct: “Not only delusional, but also irresponsible and selfish. They also pointed out that if they put this money together with their financial advisers, “in a month of 2ka, their average income is 12%, and you have nearly $650,000 in 15 years.” ”

Another person added their own math, i.e. if they invested that money, they would get more than 30 years of time: “$6769 is 3 months, so $27,000 a year. Turn $300,000 in 30 years into $300,000 at 8% of $300,000.”

Others compared themselves: “We made 380 thousand years of earning a year and dining about $500 a month. The number of people who were eating that meal was terrifying.”

Trend: Maximize retirement savings and reduce taxes: Arrange a free phone call with a financial advisor to start your financial trip – no cost, no obligation.

While many focus on the spending itself, others push the husband to rethink how he solves the problem.

One person said, “Don’t say ‘I’ve covered most bills…’ You’re us.” Dave Ramsey Teach and preach frequently.

Another messy one said: “It’s more of a marriage problem than a marriage problem. Does she deal with all the raising of children and chores? Leave the spreadsheet and be the partner your wife needs and communicate through this.”

Still, others demand practice change rather than blame. “Cut the meal time to a quarter and add 1-2 grand grand to the groceries and cook more – solve the problem.”
