Katie Thurston’s Breast Cancer Fight: Timeline

Katie Thurston He was diagnosed with breast cancer in February 2025 at the age of 34.
“I have a small piece in my breasts around 10’oclock [sic] Live,” the former bachelor wrote through her Instagram story the same month. “I found it myself. I thought it might be my time [or] Maybe it’s muscle soreness from exercise. But, in the end, the clump never disappeared. ”
Thurston then visited her doctor for mammograms, which indicated the presence of cancerous tissue. Later, she performed a biopsy to learn more about the type of cancer.
“Good news! My cancer has not metastasized[d],” Thurston shared on February 21, 2025 via her Instagram story, noting that the malignant tissue is confined to her lymph nodes. [on] March 1. The expected order of things is fertility (egg/embryo freezing), chemotherapy, and then surgery. ”
Thurston and her current husband moved to the Big Apple before cancer treatment Jeff Arcuri. (Thurston and the comedian were engaged in late 2024 and married in March 2025.)

November 2024

“My first lump [which was a benign cyst] Feel like peas or marble [and] It was hard, unnatural, but it didn’t make me feel uncomfortable. She recalled in February 2025 that the second feeling was bigger.
Thurston has breast ultrasound, mammograms and multiple biopsies that confirm the presence of cancer.
February 2025
Thurston was diagnosed shortly after Valentine’s Day and revealed the news publicly a few hours later.
Yesterday, I saw all couples celebrating at Valentine’s Day celebrations. I envy whether I’m telling the truth. Jeff took me to Hawaii and after that, we will write via Instagram on February 15, then take root in New York City and then take root in New York on February 15.
“I used the morning to find out New York City’s insurance and laws regarding existing conditions. I arranged a biopsy, fertility, mental health, surgery, and an appointment with my team to discuss the overall treatment plan, which included chemotherapy,” she added.
February 2025

Thurston performed another biopsy on her lymph nodes on February 19.
“This time, the biopsy was completed,” Thurston wrote through her Instagram story. “Taking Lorazepam away, explaining my last struggle, and asking for more numbness, they allowed Jeff to hold my hand.”
Biopsy showed that Thurston’s cancer did not metastasize further.
March 2025
Earlier this month, Thurston moved to New York City full-time before starting fertility treatment. Reality stars choose to freeze embryos before chemotherapy.
“One day, you don’t think you want children. Then one day, you meet someone you dream of and will do everything you can to make sure we can build a family in the future.”

Throughout March, Thurston continued to plan her treatment options.
“I chose the I-Spy breast cancer trial, not the standard of care. The purpose is to match patients used on the molecular and genetic characteristics of their tumors, rather than “one piece size” to fit all routes. All this means I will be doing additional tests during and during the period.”
On the same day, she made an appointment to get [her] Eye checked.
March 2025
A few days later US Weekly Special confirmation Thurston and Arcuri Found on the liver of the former bachelor. Thurston then performed a biopsy on the breast, lymph nodes and liver to find out when treatment began. She also placed a port.
On March 28, Thurston confirmed that the spots found on her liver were cancerous.
“After a few days of waiting, unfortunately, I did find out today that my breast cancer has spread to my liver,” she said in an Instagram video. “It’s small, but it does put me in phase 4.”
Thurston shared that she will start treatment next week.
April 2025
The next day, Thurston packed up her medical bags on April 3 and started chemotherapy, she received a call from a doctor to stop the plan.
Thurston by Instagram On April 4th. “I’m only a few minutes away from taking steroids for chemical preparation. Instead, I headed to the doctor to discuss how this happened, what tests were needed and what that meant for my new treatment plan. It sounds like Chemo isn’t on the table right now.”
She confirmed on April 10 that her cancer was Her2 negative. “It means it’s not chemotherapy,” she explained via Instagram Story.
“Instead, I will be LeTrozole + Kisqali + Zoladex as my first line of treatment,” she wrote. “It’s a custom program based on existence [/] Suffering from HER2-negative, intraluminal B, hormone-positive breast cancer. LeTrozole blocks estrogen, Kisqali to stop cancer cells from growing, while Zoladex closes my ovaries. ”
But chemotherapy is “not completely out of the way,” she said. “If this treatment stops working, or if the cancer grows again, it is an option. We will revisit. We will closely monitor the treatment plan and make sure it works for my body.”
Thurston further broke her treatment plan on April 12, adding that she would appoint “monthly” “monthly” “monthly monitor my heart and draw blood.” “I think the first scan from now is three months later,” she added.
June 2025
Thurston shared her second month treatment via Instagram on June 1 and noticed some changes in her body.
“Currently, after two months of medication, my hair comes out in unnatural clumps,” she said. “I’m losing my memory. This is so good. Going through customs, they are like, ‘Where are you from? ‘I looked at him and was like, “I don’t remember.”
Thurston explained that she is making “big decisions” about how to treat the liver, whether it’s radiation, ablation, tissue therapy — what she shares is what she will do with New York University (NYU). She noted that Zoladex did not work, causing her to gain her period. Thurston explained that she was switching to Lupron and if that didn’t work, she claimed she might need to remove the ovaries.
