How Trump solves Jeffrey Epstein’s problem

Since 2016, Donald Trump has had problems riding a golden escalator and taking his first steps in 2016: For much of the decade, he has developed an intimate (and rather public) friendship with a man who has since continued to be known as one of the most notorious sexual predators in modern American history. Of course, that person is Jeffrey Epstein. Epstein is a billionaire who will be friends with many wealthy and powerful people before he dies in a prison cell in 2019. But few in his associations are bigger or openly speculation than the ones he shares with the current U.S. president.
Now it can be said that Trump has absolutely solved this problem. His second term in the White House was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to use the power level to manage his connection to a dead pedophile. Instead, he fell into opportunity, a weakness in his leadership style that has long been obvious: speak too much and do too little.
During the campaign, Trump signaled voters that he would bring newfound transparency to the Epstein issue. But his administration has done little since he took office, only to disclose a batch of old documents in a highly-watched incident that was quickly seen as a “propaganda stunt.” The government may have underestimated how much Maga actually cares about the issue and seems to think that the player will be happy with the limited media antics it can offer. They haven’t been there. Indeed, voters have become increasingly angry over the past few months as the government strangely stagnates further information.
This week, Trump’s former friend Elon Musk accused the administration of not posting more information about Epstein because Trump and the dead pedophile did not post more information about Epstein. In a very public breakup between Tesla CEO and president, Musk tweeted: “It’s time to put down the real bomb: @realldonaldtrump in Epstein’s archives. This is the real reason they haven’t made public. There’s a good day. Musk wrote on X.
Musk’s piercing was a teenage attack, but it still puts the president in a precarious position. Because he ignored his voters’ appeals to transparent around Epstein, Trump now allows the issue to fall into the hands of the enemy. Democratic lawmakers seized on the issue to dig further after Thursday’s viral comments. Several Democrats wrote to Trump’s Attorney General Pam Bondi, asking her to immediately investigate Musk’s claims.
“We are deeply shocked by the allegations of the archives related to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, and have not been declassified and released to the U.S. public because they personally involve President Trump,” reads a letter signed by Rep. Robert Garcia and Rep. Stephen F. Lynch. “We ask you to immediately clarify whether the allegation is true and reply to the letter with the requested information and documents.” Both Garcia and Lynch participated in the committee dedicated to government transparency and oversight.

Meanwhile, Rep. Dan Goldberg, another Democratic member in New York, wrote a letter to Bondi, who claimed that she had delayed the release of the file. “I wrote to you that I express my serious concern for your efforts, even if you delay delays, or even prevent Jeffrey Epstein’s overall archive release – probably in the direction of current U.S. President Donald J. Trump,” Goldberg wrote.
If Democrats are really involved in the Epstein issue, the Trump administration could cause disastrous harm. Apparently, his inability to answer their questions about pedophiles, disappointing Trump’s own base is not a problem and they may turn to others who seem interested in illuminating the case further.
This may end up being really bad for the Trump camp, as some of its members have been having problems with Epstein. Trump’s long-time ally Steve Bannon has been accused of becoming “friends” with Epstein. This week, The New York Times reported that Epstein invested $40 million in a company co-founded by one of Trump’s earliest supporters, Peter Thiel. Thiel’s secret company, Palantir, played a central role in the new Trump administration, also met with pedophiles several times in 2014. Even Musk himself was summoned by the court case involving Epstein.
Epstein is not going away. He is also an abstract and invisible problem that can be troubled by more direct and urgent concerns. But Epstein has never been a minor problem. As a dark and corrupt avatar unique to the current political order, he shrouded in his national consciousness with a huge spectre of stupidity, intending to haunt anyone who was once stupid enough to call or lunch with him, or, in the case of Trump, to party with a dim nightclub.
