Delhi Temperature: IMD’s Heatwave Red Alert; Reliefs expected starting June 13

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a “red” alarm in Delhi on Thursday, June 12, the highest warning level in Delhi. According to the Weather Office, today’s temperature is expected to remain between 43 and 45 degrees Celsius in today’s capital.

Blows of wind at speeds of 40 to 60 kmph are accompanied by the possibility of very light rain or thunderstorms at night or at night.

On Wednesday, at 5:30 p.m., Ayanagar is the city’s hottest location, recording an intake of 45 degrees Celsius.

The rest of the capital is not far away: the ridge is 43.6 degrees Celsius, Palam records 44.5 degrees Celsius, Pitampura 43.5 degrees Celsius 43.5 degrees Celsius, Safdarjung – Basic weather stations in Delhi – 43.3 degrees Celsius – 43.3 degrees Celsius and 43.4 degrees Celsius 43.4 degrees Celsius.
Meanwhile, Mayur Vihar reports a relatively low but severe 40.9 degrees Celsius.
The surge is expected to continue until the end of the day, starting on Friday, June 13, and gradually decline.

The IMD announcement observed that these temperatures were three to four degrees Celsius higher than usual, which led to persistent heatwave conditions expected to continue into Thursday.

IMD recommends residents to act by keeping moisture, avoiding direct sun exposure and limiting outdoor activities, especially during peak afternoons.

The severity of the heat wave is expected to be reduced from June 13, prompting the IMD to downgrade the warning to the orange alarm.

Between June 14 and 17, Delhi may drop significantly at temperatures, ranging from 37 to 42 degrees Celsius.

The decline may be accompanied by rain to moderate rainfall and gusts, which may relieve the ongoing thermal stress to some extent.
