That’s all we know so far.
What causes service outages?
At the time of writing, although both Cloudflare and Google Cloud have reported issues, it is not clear what the reason for this disruption is. CloudFlare’s status page is reporting widespread service outages.
According to the company’s latest update:
-
“We are starting to see service recovery. As the system processes and caches are filled, we still want to see intermittent errors for affected services.”
-
“We are seeing many services suffering from intermittent failures. We are continuing to investigate this and we will update this list as we evaluate the impact on each service level.”
-
Cloudflare engineering is working on an issue that causes access authentication to fail. CloudFlare zero-trust distortion connections are also affected.
On the Google Cloud status page, the company reported earlier today that “multiple GCP products are experiencing service issues.” Latest update status: “We have identified the root cause and applied the appropriate mitigation. Our infrastructure has been restored in all regions except US-Central1. Google Cloud products relying on affected infrastructure are seeing recovery in multiple locations. Our engineers are unable to recover all recovery in our center and in multiple regions/multiple work, and our engineers have realized that our recovery has been restored.
Mixable light speed
“We are currently investigating service outages for certain Google Cloud Services. Please check our public status dashboard for the latest updates,” a Google Cloud representative told Mashable via email.

Multiple hybrid journalists also encountered problems accessing services such as Google Meet. Google Cloud is reporting issues, which will help explain why so many Google services are in trouble.
As of 3:30 pm ET, Google Cloud said it has no ETA for “full recovery.”
