Evacuated London train passengers are forced to walk along the tracks on the hottest day of the year

So far, dozens of British passengers have been forced to evacuate the train and walk along the track on Saturday as some services ceased.

Video posted on social media shows people walking on the track next to the Thameslink train near the Loughborough junction station in south London.

Some passengers complained on social media that they were forced to wait for onboard service without air conditioning for up to two hours.

Angela Lewis posted a video on X passenger at Loughborough junction, and the words like this: “We were abandoned outside after nearly two hours on the truck train that arrived in Gatwick.”

“Is it necessary to wait for nearly two hours to get stuck in an overheated carriage? We should go out in up to 30 minutes,” a follow-up post said.

Another user wrote to Thameslink: “You will have a fee.

A Thameslink spokesman replied: “This train will be evacuated soon. Please wait until the responders board the plane and establish a safe evacuation route.”

Govia Thameslink Railway and Network Railway apologize for the delay.

A Thameslink spokesman said: “Earlier today, there was a fault on the train near the Loughborough junction that caused all services in the area to cease, three of which were outside the station platform.

“On such a hot day, without electricity and air conditioning, we evacuated all resources from Sussex and Kent to keep people on site to safely evacuate passengers along the track as soon as possible.

“It will be a difficult and uncomfortable experience for our passengers and we are really sorry.”

The Metropolitan Office said temporary temperatures in Surrey exceeded 33c, making Saturday the hottest day to date.

A yellow warning for thunderstorms was issued Saturday night to Sunday from 3 a.m. to cover parts of southeast Scotland, Yorkshire and Wales.

The Metropolitan Office said that up to 40 mm of rain could drop in less than two hours as it urged to consider whether its location is at risk for flash floods and prepare accordingly.

The first amber sanitation alert issued by the UK Health Security Agency since September 2023 is held by all parts of England over the weekend.
