Russia’s attack on Ukraine killed at least six people and suffered twelve injuries

Ukraine (AP) – A drone and missile attack in the Ukrainian capital killed at least five people and injured others, and rescuers and firefighters tried to evacuate people they believed were trapped in debris in a partially folded apartment building, according to Ukraine’s emergency services.

Elsewhere in Ukraine, another person was killed and eight people were injured in the city of Bila Tserkva, which is about 85 kilometers (53 miles) southwest of the capital.

The strike occurred in a Russian attack on Ukraine last Tuesday, killing 28 people in Kiev, with 23 killing 23 in a residential building that collapsed after being directly attacked by missiles. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy called it one of the biggest bombings in the war and now it is in its fourth year.

The Ministry of Emergency Services said drones and missiles hit residential areas, hospitals and sports infrastructure in many areas of Kiev in the early hours of Monday.

Five people were confirmed dead in the attack on the building, while 10 other people, including pregnant women, were rescued from nearby high-level rescue workers, who also suffered huge damage from the explosion.

Dozens of cars, some burned down, some were messed up by flying debris in the explosion, forming a roar in the yard in front of the building, the debris had collapsed to the second floor.

Onlookers, some wrapped in blankets, looked in tears as the cleaning operation took place. Dozens of volunteers worked to remove broken glass, fallen branches and other debris.

Kiev Mayor Vitali Klitschko told reporters on the scene: “We are very hoping that the death toll will not increase”, but rescuers are still looking for collapsed buildings for further casualties.
