“Kids will love this. Parents will hate me. I am a loyal believer in video games,” Wilson told ESPN.

“It’s a quick decision strategy. I think that prepares me for the game because when you’re in the box, you have to deal with it very often.”

Wilson attributes video games to his decision making training himself.

“Sometimes I wake up, I play video games, and I go to the fields, and I have a great time. Sometimes I don’t play and can’t see the ball. I think it really helps me to have to train my decisions after six hours on the baseball field.”

Currently, track and field shortstop is a favorite to win the U.S. Rookie of the Year.

With the help of Fortnite, Wilson’s drama may include him in the All-Star Game in Atlanta next month.

Although Wilson may attribute his success to Fortnite, much of his success in the major leagues comes from a lot of talent. Jacob is the son of Jack Wilson, who spent 12 seasons in the Major League and became an NL All-Star team with the Pittsburgh Buccaneers in 2004.

Jack said he believes video games can help hand-eye coordination.

“I do believe in the hand-eye coordination given by video games – as long as you do your homework,” Jack told ESPN. “Children, if you’re reading, do your homework.”

Jacob will continue his strong season when Track and Field (33-49) competes with the Detroit Tigers (50-31) at 1:10 PM ET.
