Ukraine says

Kiev, Ukraine (AP) – Russian drones attacked Odessa, a port city in southern Ukraine overnight, killing two people and injuring at least 17 people, Ukrainian authorities said Saturday.

Emergency services say a drone hit a residential tower in the city, causing damage to three floors and capturing residents. According to district governor Oleh Kiper, the two were killed in the attack, a married couple, who added that there were three children in the injury.

Moscow did not comment immediately. More than 40 Ukrainian drones were shot down overnight and were shot down in western Russia and in Crimea occupied by the Kremlin on Saturday morning, according to the Russian Ministry of Defense.

Long-range drone strikes have been a symbol of war and are now in their fourth year. Racial developments on both sides are becoming more and more complex, and drones turn war into test scenes for new weapons.

Ukrainian drones have achieved some amazing feats. In early June, nearly one-third of Moscow strategic bombers’ fleets destroyed or damaged cheap drones into Russian territory during Ukraine’s covert operations.

Both sides use smaller short-range drones on the battlefield and in areas close to the frontlines about 1,000 kilometers (620 miles).

Ukraine’s UN human rights monitoring mission said in a report released Thursday that between February 2022 and April 2025, short-term drone attacks caused at least 395 civilians and 2,635 injured. Almost 90% of the attacks were reported by Russian troops.

The Office of the United Nations Human Rights Commissioner said more than 13,300 civilians died and more than 34,700 were injured during the war.
