Supporters protest against Supreme Court Trial by former Brazilian leader Jair Bolsonaro in Sao Paulo

São Paulo (AP) – Former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro attended a public demonstration in Sao Paulo on Sunday to protest his ongoing Supreme Court trial in South American countries.
Thousands of people gathered on Paulista Avenue, one of the city’s main locations, and before the event, Bolsonaro was called “the Act of Freedom, Justice”.
Bolsonaro and 33 allies are facing trials on alleged conspiracy to overturn the results of the 2022 presidential election and continue to rule. They were charged with five counts related to the program.
The former president denied the allegations and claimed that he was the target of political persecution. If convicted, he could face up to 12 years in prison.
“Bolsonaro, come back!” protesters shouted, but the former president was banned from running until 2030. Brazil’s higher election court ruled last year that he abused political power and made unfounded claims about the country’s electronic voting system.
