Passport is at your doorstep; Mobile Seva Van serves Krishnagiri for 3 days

Chennai Regional Passport Office will operate its mobile passport Seva van in Krishnagiri region for three days. The initiative aims to improve access to passport facilities for people in remote and underserved areas. Mobile devices will offer 30 appointments per day and can be booked online via the official passport SEVA website.
The service will run with 40 daily appointments that the Krishnagiri Post Office has processed.
Mobile Passport Seva Van was launched in Chennai by the Chief Passport Officer of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and is part of a broader plan to ensure the last mile delivery of government services.
The Chennai Passport Office also led the digital upgrades in the system. Earlier this year, it became the first person in southern India to issue electronic passports. These contain personal and biometric information from the holder, providing greater security and helping to reduce the chance of forgery.
The Chennai office has published more than 1.2 million E-Passports, which process about 2,500 applications per day.
There are also plans to expand the office scope, with the new passport Seva Kendra to be opened in Perambur, North Chennai. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has also announced the goal of establishing at least one passport office in each parliamentary constituency.
The mobile van program highlights the government’s focus to make basic services more accessible to people in rural and semi-urban areas.
