Himaal Pradesh: CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu flag under Rajiv Gandhi Swarozgaar startup Yojana 20 e-Taxis off 20 e-Taxis.

Himaal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu held 20 electric taxis in the state secretariat of Shimla State on Saturday under the start-up Yojana (RGSSY), Rajiv Gandhi Swarozgaar, a key initiative aimed at promoting mass promotion and green mobility.

Under the plan, the state government provides a 50% subsidy for young entrepreneurs who purchase electronic taxes. Officials said Rs 4.22 crore has been paid to 59 beneficiaries so far, and the Rs 61 subsidy is expected to be released soon.

Stable income and reduce status burden

The chief minister said the initiative aims to provide sustainable employment for young people and guarantee income for five years and have the option to have two years by attaching taxis to government offices. This will also help ease the economic burden on the state, Sukhu said.

The Chief Minister stressed the state’s concerns about environmental protection, highlighting the importance of adopting electronic vehicles and green hydrogen to address the growing impacts of climate change.

“We have witnessed the adverse effects of climate change. It is crucial for us to implement policies that support environmental protection. Promoting electronic vehicles is a need for hours,” Sukhu said.

Work focus, training and reform

He added that the state not only provides government jobs, but is actively creating avenues for self-employed. He also announced that Himaal Pang State Electronics Development Corporation (HPSEDC) has obtained a license to operate as a recruiting agency.

“The most difficult part is getting an HPSEDC license. Now we will sign contracts with consulates in various countries and provide skills training for our young people,” he said.

The Chief Minister also emphasized the administrative reforms of the entire department and pointed out that Himaal improved its national education ranking from the 21st to the 5th. He further said that efforts are being made to provide government medical schools with medical institutions comparable to AIIMS in Delhi. “These initiatives reflect our commitment to improving the lives of the people of Himaal Pradesh,” Sukhu said.
