249 years ago, 56 men met at the Pennsylvania Capitol in Philadelphia to protest the most powerful empire on earth.
These people represent the empire’s 13 colonies – a mix of landowners, entrepreneurs, politicians and others – who have become obsessed with new ideas from Enlightenment thinkers and Christian teaching. These beliefs led them to a war, and irrational people thought they could win.
Remember the government at that time. Now we live in this world created by 56 people – a world that even dictatorship like North Korea has masked itself in the language of a “republic”.
Details of John Trumbull’s painting “Declaration of Independence” depict the five-person drawing committee of the Declaration, introducing his work to Congress. (“Independence Statement” – Details of John Trembell’s painting)
But in 1776, freedom, equality and autonomy were new concepts championed by philosophers, and incomplete concepts were adopted only in a few small enclaves. The vast majority of countries in the world are genetic monarchies and empires, in which equal rights and personal freedoms are not considered. The founder’s battle seems difficult to understand.

When it was launched, the Second Continental Congress was largely responsible for a man, Thomas Jefferson – drafted the document that would shed light on their vision for mankind and this new nation and reshape history.
Imagine his certain feelings. Jefferson quarantined himself in a house for rent on Market Street from June 11 to June 28 to draft the document. He was 33 years old at the time. In that rented townhouse, he drafted what I think is one of the most beautiful passages in history:
We believe that these truths are self-evident, that all people are equal, and that their creators have given certain inalienable rights, including life, freedom and the pursuit of happiness.

The Second Continental Congress was primarily responsible for a man – Thomas Jefferson – drafted the document, which would express their vision for mankind and this new country and reshape history.
Read again. Read it as if you lived under the Spanish colony in South America or under the iron fist of the Qing Dynasty in China. Read it as if you were the one who was under the oppression of King George or the enslaved man in Georgia (freedom under the Principle of Declaration is still a decades away).
Why is the Magazine Movement the Revolution of 1776 of Our Times
Read it as if you grew up in a system that assumes your social station is lower than your neighbors, and under such a system, your future is limited by birth.
In fact, the statement is a “revolutionary” statement that sets out the ideological and factual basis for opposing the imperial coup. But spiritually, this is more important than that.
This is a revolution against history. It is a revolution against the idea that some men (and women) are more valuable than others. It is a revolution in the concept of dignity, human rights and law before the concept of equality.

American colonists overturned the statue of King George III on Bowling Green in Lower Manhattan on July 9, 1776. (William Walcutt (1819-1895). Painting 1857)
When Jefferson submitted the document to Congress, those 56 people signed it and shipped it to King George and other rulers around the world, they ignited a war in the American colonies that would turn the ball from tyranny to freedom.

They got the war. Five signatures were captured, tortured and killed. Nine people died from wounds or sufferings in war. All were affected – suffered violence, their homes and property were damaged, and their children were trapped in the violence they caused. They are hungry. They lost the battle.
They must be wondering if it’s worth it – these ideals that put them in violence. Then, unexpectedly, they won.
In the creation of the United States, those founding fathers reshape history. Now we live in a world where nearly half of the country is a democratic country. The combination of political freedom, free markets and technological innovations released by these institutions has lifted billions of people out of poverty – creating a world richer than the one that existed when independence was declared, whose world is more than 100 times richer.

Today, the main ideology around the world is the ideology illuminated in the manifesto. The American revolution has become a revolution in human history.
This weekend celebrates Independence Day in the United States. We celebrate 56 adventurers. But we also solemnly reflect on the allegations of the statement and its authors.
All creation is equal. Our creators all have inalienable rights. Each of us should have the ability to live, freedom, and pursue our own unique path to prosperity. But those inalienable rights cannot be guaranteed. As our predecessors, we are asked to embrace and fight for it.

Abraham Lincoln once pointed out that great men “desire and burn for outstanding things” and will have it, whether in order to eliminate slavery, or to enslave free people. “On the world, the forces against freedom, dignity and opportunity continue to rule others.
On this Independence Day, we can fight back. May we have the courage and belief to oppose the enemy of freedom and continue to fight for the declaration and the commitment of the American Spirit Foundation. May we be blessed for our neighbors and creators out of love. Maybe we can gain courage from these 56 people, thousands of fellow countrymen, and the impossible war they have won. Happy Independence Day.
