Prime Minister Narendra Modi shakes hands to share hug with Brazilian president

Prime Minister Narendra Modi shook hands on Sunday and attended the 17th BRICS summit with Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula Da Silva.
Prime Minister Modi arrived at the Museum of Modern Art at the 17th BRICS Summit.
PM Modi wrote on X: “Thanks to President Lula for the gold coin summit held in Rio de Janeiro. The BRICS remains a powerful force in economic cooperation and global good.”
Upon arrival, Prime Minister Modi was warmly welcomed by the Indian community in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Prime Minister Modi also witnessed the musical performance of traditional prayer songs.
Members of the Indian community were welcoming PM Modi while performing traditional dance performances with the theme of “Operation Sindoor”.
Operation Sindoor is a calibrated military response to the evolving model of asymmetric warfare, which increasingly targets military personnel, targeting unarmed civilians. In April 2025, the terrorist attack on Pahargam tourists caused a serious reminder of this transformation.
Prime Minister Modi shared his emotions on social media platform X, and he was surprised by the lasting connection between Indian diaspora and Indian culture.
PM Modi wrote on X: “Members of the Brazilian Indian community have given great welcome in Rio de Janeiro. It is amazing how they stay connected with Indian culture and are also very passionate about the development of India! Here are some glimpses of popularity.”
After landing in Brazil, he shared an article on X, saying: “Land in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, where I will attend the BRICS summit and later head to their capital, Brasilia, to invite President Lula. Hopefully, effective meetings and interactions will be held during this visit.”
During the 17th BRICS Leaders’ Summit (July 6-7), Prime Minister Modi will strengthen multilateralism and be responsible for the use of artificial intelligence, climate action, global health and economic and financial matters.
Brazil is the fourth country to visit by its five countries.
