New York, New York – Two of the world’s greatest female boxers ever completed the trilogy on Friday night – a third of the seats.
Katie Taylor won Amanda Serrano’s third victory at Madison Square Garden, the same venue where their epic trilogy began three years ago.
The first two battles had controversial scorecards – the first was Taylor’s split decision, which, despite Taylor being deducted, gave Taylor a consistent victory.

This is also the case where a judge ruled that the draw was also greatly controversial. But the other two gave Taylor a 97-93 victory, giving her a majority decision.
Taylor initially evaded that given the situation in the first two battles, there was any additional pressure on Friday’s round, which would be played again shortly after the victory. But, in the ring, she sent out a thunderous “Come on” celebration, almost saying that Serrano could not beat her at all, later admitting it was “very satisfying.”

“There are always a little pressure in these fights. It feels normal to feel some pressure, but I’m not more stressful than before,” Taylor said. “Every battle I’ve been involved in is a huge event. There’s always a little relief when I raise my hand. Totally happy. All the hard work is given, all the sacrifices you’re making, it’s a tough sport, so when your hand raises it, it’s a relief.”
Taylor didn’t have much to say, she didn’t have much to do to accomplish – she proved that she was the best of this generation, perhaps the best ever, as defending her WBA, WBC, WBO, WBO and IBF super lightweight titles, a relaxing person who was easily in the Rushmore Mt. Rushmore of the female boxer.
Retirement is an option, but she is not ready to propose it one way or another.
“I won’t say I have anything else to prove,” Taylor said. “But I’m going to sit down and relax and will decide whether I will fight again in the future.”
