Swiatek’s 6-0, 6-0 wins were the first double bagel win in Grand Slam final history, and the incredible level of pole position is further proof of or her status as a legendary talent in our sport.

But Anisimova won hearts with her emotional runner-up speech as she gave the central court crowd insight into her journey to the Wimbledon finals and how her mother played a key role in her development.

“My mom does more work than she can be honest.” Anisimova, a tear-eyed eye, told the crowd that she paid tribute to her mother, who had flew over to Saturday’s final. “My mom is the most selfless person I know. She has done everything she can to get me to this point.”

Anisimova’s family suffered a hard share as Amanda’s coach and father, Konstantin Anisimova, died suddenly in 2017, while Amanda was only 17 years old.

It was amazing to watch Anisimova pull herself together after her brutal loss and celebrate her journey.

She apologized to the crowd and talked for too long, but in fact, the audience was fascinated.

“I’m so glad I’ve shared this moment and let you witness this in person here, you can never see that much in my life again because you’ve done so much for me and my sister and you have it all the time.

It would be foolish to not focus on Anisimova’s journey and her incredible efforts to overcome sadness and subsequent mental health issues will be a Wimbledon finalist and top 10 player.

And we may not have heard of the last time for a 23-year-old.

“I know I don’t have enough time today, but I’ll keep doing this work. I’ve always believed in myself and hope to be back here one day,” she concluded.
