School bus crash in England killed 1 student and injured 2 severely – Country

Authorities say a bus with high school children overturned and glided on a steep embankment in southwest England on Thursday, killing one student and seriously injuring two students.
Wayne Darch, deputy director of operations at the Southwest Ambulance Bureau, said three helicopters and 20 ambulances were sent to the crash and brought 21 people to the hospital, with crews treating others on the spot.
Prime Minister Keir Starmer said his idea was with family and friends of people involved in the heartbreaking crash.
Starmer said on X: “There are not enough words to acknowledge the death of a child.
Devon and Somerset Fire Rescue Director Gavin Ellis said a firefighter who was off duty was on the scene almost immediately and began to release passengers, while dozens of other firefighters and ambulance personnel were dispatched.
“Our crew members have carried out a lot of tension and rescues in extremely difficult situations, and they have also supported our ambulances with casualties treatment,” Ellis said.

Police said the bus carrying 60 to 70 passengers returned to Minehead Middle School in Somerset from a day trip.
The school teaches children aged nine to 14 in the last few days before the summer vacation.
