Video misstatement of Indian amusement parks to show Canada

A clip Stuffed Wave Pool attracted derogatory comments on social media in July 2025 as users claimed it showed that most attendees in Canadian Wonderland were immigrants or Indian origins. But the Ontario Amusement Park confirmed to AFP that the video did not show the congestion of its facilities, while a reverse image search showed the footage from Blueworld Park in India.

“Is this really a wonderland in Canada?

People pack videos into a wave pool, where most of the swimmers seem to be white, also shared with Instagram. Text on the video claimed that it shows Canadian Wonderland in Ontario on May 18, 2025, the country’s largest theme park.

Search AdsPersonality examples show that the clip is also related to Canada in 2024, with the version showing that the crowd reflects the public immigration policy of former Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

As Canada’s once long-standing immigration consensus breaks down, AFP has debunked numerous claims about newcomers, with many targets moving to the country from India.

Comments to the clip show insults, and an account that shares it seems to be a slander for Indian handles.

In June 2025, the Institute for Strategic Dialogue think tank reported an uptrend in anti-South Asia hate speech spread by Canadian extremists in high immigration rates and increased anxiety about housing availability and unemployment (archived here).

While users suggest that the video is said to show a large number of Indian immigrants in Canada, the clip was actually shot in a wave pool on the other end of the world

“That’s not a Canadian wonderland,” said park spokeswoman Grace Peacock in an email on July 17.

The clip’s reverse image search results show that the surroundings match other videos shared online and are marked on Blueworld Park in Kanpur, India (archived here).

The social media post claimed to be posted on Blueworld and similarly displayed from the theme park’s own Instagram page, misleading the theme park hotel marked as being in Canada (archived here and archived here), with unique multi-color slideshows and palace-style in the backstage (archived here).

Satellite images of the park on Google Maps also match the slideshows and buildings seen in the video (archived here).

Photos shared by users with Google Maps from Blueworld Park can also visually match videos with false statements (archived here).
