Netanyahu avoids announcing a local ceasefire in Gaza for political reasons, former Spox. explain
Dostri acknowledged that the decision on the local ceasefire was Netanyahu’s decision and said the prime minister could decide to issue a video statement later on Sunday.
Benjamin Netanyahu prefers to announce a new localized “humanitarian” ceasefire in the Gaza Strip than to announce it itself because it is “not “not something widely accepted by the public,” former Netanyahu spokesman Omer Dostri accepted Sunday morning work at Dr. Kan Reshet BET BET PRODAIND.
“Providing aid is not widely accepted by most of the public. It is possible to discuss it – the question is who. Since the IDF is the person who is actually responsible, it makes sense that it will be someone who spreads the word.”
Dostri acknowledged that the decision on the local ceasefire was Netanyahu’s decision and said the prime minister could decide to issue a video statement later on Sunday to explain the decision.
Dostri acknowledges that PMO does not have a “operation” public diplomatic unit
Dostri, who started in August 2024 and was the chief spokesperson for Netanyahu three weeks ago (July 5), admitted in an interview that there was no “normal” public diplomacy (“Hasbara”) unit in the Prime Minister’s Office, so Israel cannot effectively say that Israel cannot effectively fight the “mistake” of the situation in Gaza.

When asked why the Prime Minister avoided any interviews outside of Channel 14, other than Israeli TV channels, Dostry said the Prime Minister had negative experiences in past interviews and therefore preferred to avoid them.
Ben-Gvir claimed in a statement earlier Sunday that the decision on the local ceasefire itself was made over the weekend, without the opinion of far-right national security minister MK Itamar Ben-Gvir.
“On Saturday night, sources in the Prime Minister’s Office informed me that during the Sabbath period, security consultations were conducted without me… decided to increase the amount of ‘humanitarian’ assistance entering Gaza.”
Ben-Gvir said such plans were “a surrender to Hamas’ deception campaign” and “endangering the lives of IDF soldiers.”
In response to Netanyahu’s statement on Friday that Israel and the United States are considering an “alternative option” to bring hostages home.
Ben-Gvir wrote: “This road is far from the return of the hostages and, above all, an absolute victory in the war. The only way to win the war and take the hostages is to completely block ‘humanitarian’ aid, conquer the entire Gaza Strip, and encourage voluntary immigration.”
Responding to the inquiry, a spokesperson said Finance Minister Bezales Smotrich was not part of the decision to make a local ceasefire either.
