Anand says Ottawa’s humanitarian aid truck is ready to enter the Gaza Strip – National

Foreign Minister Anita Anand said Ottawa had a lot of aid, ready to reach the desperate Palestinians in Gaza and counted on Israel to allow them to pass.
Anand said Jordan, which borders Israel and the West Bank, allowed Canada to pre-process aid until Israel allowed it to enter the Gaza Strip.
She said she spoke with her Israeli counterparts on Friday: “Seeking to ensure that trucks carrying Canadian aid enter Gaza.”

Since then, Israel has said it will allow some humanitarian corridors to be established so that UN groups can provide assistance as well as possible airdrops.
The decision comes months later, experts warned that Israel had strict restrictions on the risk of aid causing famine, after hundreds of Palestinians were killed while trying to seek food at a location established by Israel.
Israel has downplayed reports from many humanitarian groups on the grounds of starvation’s death and claimed the United Nations has failed to distribute aid, although UN agencies say Israel still does not allow enough food and fuel.
