Russian rumored jet-powered version by Iran Shahd appears in Ukraine’s air defense report

-
Ukraine reports began to document the use of new Russian jet Shahed drones.
-
It is said that a version, informally known as the Geran-3, flies 500 miles per hour.
-
If the jet drone is launched on the group, this speed will bring key problems to Ukraine’s air defense.
There are more signs that Russia is launching a new explosive drone that is said to fly much faster than the current Shah.
Ukraine’s Air Force Command reported on Wednesday that it encountered a timing attack drone defending its airspace the night before.
It wrote in a regular update: “A notable feature of night attacks is that up to eight jet-powered drones can be used in the northern direction.”
The announcement marked one of the first official reports of Ukrainian troops encountering new wandering ammunition during combat.
Overall, the total number of Air Force commanders launched 78 Shahed attack drones on Tuesday night.
The statement added that 51 drones were shot down or disabled by electronic warfare, interceptor drones, air defense missiles and mobile firefighting groups, which usually use truck-mounted machine guns.
The Ukrainian Air Force did not specify whether any jets were shot down.
“27 drone impacts were recorded at seven locations and the drone dropped debris at two locations,” the Air Force Command wrote.
On Thursday, Ukrainian Telegraph Channel monitored the flight path of Russian drones and also wrote that it recorded the launch of jet jet drones.
It reads: “On the map we have drawn for you, you can see cruise missiles, jet-powered Shahs, and the movement of conventional strike/bait drones.” Although not an official government channel, city-specific alerts for entry drones have been widely paid attention to in Ukraine.
The main issues in Ukraine’s air defense
The Russian jet’s drone is believed to be carried out after Iran’s Shahed-238, which was launched in November by Tehran, an upgraded long-range roaming ammunition in November.
Moscow has not formally detailed its new weapon version, but Ukrainian intelligence and Western analysts report that it may be modeling with the Tolou -10/13 jet engine to greatly increase the speed of the drone.
Open source intelligence sources said as early as January that Ukraine may have shot down at least one SHAHED-238 drone, indicating limited use in Russia. In June, images released by the Ukrainian Telegraph Channel appeared to show destruction debris from such drones in the country.
In earlier reports and latest news from Air Force Command on Wednesday, it is not clear whether these are prototypes or the final drone.
However, if deployed to Ukraine, the newly upgraded drones could pose a major problem for the Kiev air defense belt.
The Shahed-238 is said to be much faster than the Shahed-136, a Geran-2 produced locally in Russia, the Kremlin’s main attack drone against Ukraine.
While the Shahed-136 is known to fly at 115 mph, the Russian general told state media in December that the Shahed-238 could fly as high as 500 mph. The independent analysis of the drone has been expanded and still cannot be used publicly, and ammunition can only fly quickly while diving.
But at this speed, jet-powered drones are almost as fast as cruise missiles.
For mobile firefighting groups in Ukraine, or relying on vehicle machine guns that fight the Shahed-136S, this is almost impossible target.
This year, mobile firefighting groups have been flooded with the number of people in Russia’s Shah 136 launched every night. To increase the gap, Ukraine has begun to prioritize interceptor drones, which could also lead to obsoleteness if the jet-powered Shah people become mainstream.
Ukraine has limited use of intercepting drones to shoot down shahed, but has been developing and developing in recent months to resist Russia’s growing drone wave.Wild wasps/Telecom
The Interceptor drone, built secretly by Ukrainian companies, already needed to fly faster than the Shahed-136, as they had to catch up with the wandering ammunition after detection.
SHAHED-238 or GERAN-3 moving at 500 mph will require intercepting drones to fly nearly three times faster.
“Under this situation, unfortunately, the promising Antiaircraft Interceptor drone will be powerless,” the Ukrainian military blogger wrote in late June.
Ukraine does provide advanced air defense missile defense for faster targets, such as the US-made Patriot system, and even reportedly its goal is to knock down the hypersonic Kinzar missile.
Nevertheless, Ukraine usually retains these expensive anti-air ballistic missiles. The tide of consuming them to neutralize the shahed drones is unsustainable.
