Trump told Schumer

President Donald Trump told Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer to “go to hell” a few hours after “going to hell” in a social media article, the Senate is expected to fall into a break after failing to confirm Trump’s nominee.

Sources introducing the conversation told CNN that Senate Republican leaders John Thune, Schumer and The White House had a fierce conversation to end the standoff so that the senators could return to their state.

Sources told CNN that Schumer asked for the release of federal funds and Trump agreed not to push for another legislative plan that would cut federal funds.

But on social media, Trump called Schumer’s request “shocking and unprecedented”, a sign of a conversation collapse.

Trump wants the Senate to confirm his nominee, even if that means skipping the August recess.

On the Senate floor Saturday night, Thun asked for unanimous agreement to vote in a few nominations and then take a month off.

Democrats have been slowly walking Trump’s low-level candidates, forcing Thun to continue the Senate this weekend to confirm them. In the minority, Democrats have the right to force Thun to increase more and more obstacles before voting.

Sources said Schumer made some requests to agree to the Senate’s quick confirmation of a batch of nominations. These requirements include federal funding for a range of programs, including the National Institutes of Health and the Institute of Foreign Aid.

Schumer also hopes Trump agrees that he won’t try to push for another package cut called “revocation” federal funding — after getting $9 billion in packages to codify some cuts earlier this summer.

“Tell Schumer that there is huge political pressure within his party, and the radical left madman is going to hell!” Trump wrote on Saturday. “Don’t accept the offer, go home, explain to your voters what the bad guys are, and what Republicans are doing and what they do for our country.
