Iran sets up a new defense committee after war with Israel

The Defense Council will be chaired by Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and consists of three government branches, senior armed forces commanders and heads of relevant ministries.

According to state media, Iran’s highest security agency approved a defense commission on Sunday after the war with Israel in June, which was Iran’s worst military challenge since the Iran-Iraq war in the 1980s.

“The new defense agencies will review defense plans in a centralized manner and improve the capabilities of the Iranian armed forces in a centralized manner,” the Secretariat of the Supreme National Security Council said.

The Defense Council will be chaired by Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and consists of three government branches, senior armed forces commanders and heads of relevant ministries.

On Sunday, Iranian army commander-in-chief Amir Hatami warned that Israel’s threat is persistent and should not be underestimated.

This is a developing story.
