“I’m very happy with the commitment the players have made and the enthusiasm that the team has to be able to overcome Denmark, and we already know that it will be tough with Holger Rune,” Ferrer said. “But we’re going to face it in the best way.
“Alejandro has been very consistent, he is in the top 20 in the game, Carlos comes from winning Roland Garros and winning the Wimbledon final, so I’m glad they’re with us.”
The tie will compete on Marbella’s outdoor red clay.
Alcaraz, the world’s second-place finisher with a 3-0 Davis Cup singles record, will make his debut since defeating Tallon Griekspoor 7-6, 6-3 in the 2024 quarterfinals last November.
The 22-year-old Spaniard is in 13 consecutive clay wins, winning consecutive clay titles at Roland Garros and Rome. Alcaraz’s last clay field defeat is Denmark’s star Holger runes April 7-6 (6), 6-2 in the Barcelona final in April.
