Signal 2 in BATANES, Gorio slightly exacerbates

According to the Philippine Atmosphere, Geophysics and Astronomy Services Authority (Pagasa), the Teton Gorilla (International Name: Podul) was slightly strengthened when traveling to Taiwan, and was placed on Tropical Cyclone Signal No. 2 in the city of Yitbayat, Battany.
In a weather announcement released at 5:00 a.m., Pagasa said that under signal No. 2, ITBayat is expected to experience winds of 62 to 88 km/h, which could pose a moderate threat to life and property.
Other areas in Batanes province also have tropical cyclone signal No. 1, with winds expected to be between 39 and 61 km/h, which could pose the least threat to life and property.
Typhoon Gorio slightly intensified from 130 km/h near its center to 140 km/h, and gusts lasted from 160 km/h for 170 km/h.
It is located 165 km northeast of Itbayat in Batanes and moves westward at a speed of 25 km/h.
Pagasa said Gorio is expected to withdraw from the Philippines Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Wednesday afternoon or evening as it continues to approach the eastern coast of southern Taiwan.
A strong wind warning was also issued to the seaboards of the Batanes and Babuyan Islands, where the large waves were 9.0 meters and 3.5 meters respectively.
Pagasa said the boat is advised not to venture into the ocean in this case. – EDG Adrian A. Eva
