Britain’s “unwavering” support for Ukraine, Starmer told Trump and other leaders
LONDON (Reuters) – British Prime Minister Keir Starmer told U.S. President Donald Trump and European leaders that support for Ukraine is unwavering and should have strong security assurances as part of any peace deal with Russia.
Starmer landed on the street office’s phone reading statement: “It is obvious that our support for Ukraine is unwavering – international borders cannot be changed by force, and Ukraine must have strong and credible security assurances to defend its territorial integrity as part of any transaction.”
The call also includes Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy and leaders from France, Germany, Italy, Poland, Finland, NATO and the EU, ahead of a meeting between Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday.
