Matteo Berrettini Not in the U.S. Open.

The 59th-ranked Italian officially withdrew from the major of Flushing Meadows today.

This is Berrettini’s second Grand Slam withdrawal this season. The 2021 Wimbledon finalist pulled out right-tilt damage from Roland Garros in May.

The 29-year-old Berrettini reached the quarter-finals in all four Grand Slams, including his memorable 2019 U.S. Open semifinals.

Berrettini has never competed since his first round defeat at Wimbledon in June, joining Grigor Dimitrov as the second former semi-finalist to exit the Open. Dimitrov withdrew from a chest tear against Jannik Sinner at Wimbledon, he will see his 15-year Grand Slam winning streak.
