Carrying 2 million users

In addition to this progress, the government has highlighted the growing growth of the E-Jagriti platform, which was launched in January 2025 to simplify compensation for digital complaints. As of August 6, more than 2 million users, including the non-resident Indians (NRIS), have registered on the portal, and 85,531 cases have been filed this year.

The platform merges early systems such as OCM, E-Daakhil, NCDRC CMS, and Conponet portal into unified interfaces. It allows consumers to file complaints from anywhere, pay fees online or offline, and track case status in real time. Features include multilingual support, chatbot help, virtual hearings, voice-to-text options for visual challenge users, and dedicated modules for advocates and judges.

Recent case results highlight impact

In Tamil Nadu, a consumer received a refund of Rs 14,249 and compensation and litigation costs for defective TVs, while another case in Thanjavur saw NEET Coaching Academy ordering a refund and paying Rs 5 lakh compensation.

In Punjab, buyers of defective ceramic tiles receive refunds and compensation, and in Haryana, consumers receive refunds and compensation after purchasing a defective dishwasher.

In Gujarat, the Consumer Council directed an insurance company to repay the medical claims claimed to have denied and received additional compensation.

Government urges wider use of the platform

The Department of Consumer Affairs said these developments reflect the direction towards faster, more transparent and inclusive consumer justice, and E-Jagriti is expected to play a central role in the coming years.
