Health authorities are highly alert to dengue cases surge in Patna

Dengue fever is spreading rapidly in Patna, the capital of Bihar. In the past 48 hours, 28 new infections have been reported, with a total of 86 cases in the first 20 days of August.

PATNA has recorded more than 150 cases since January, posing increasingly serious challenges to health departments and municipal companies.

According to the Civil Surgeon’s Office, dengue fever spreads in the waterhole area. Areas such as Kankabag, Postal Park, Yogipur, Jakkanpur, Jaganpura, Patna City, Boring Road, Boring Canal Road, Pataliputra Colony, Digha, Digha, Gola Road, Rupaspur, Phulwarisharif and Danapur have been regarded as Hotspots.

These regions also reported high numbers during the outbreak last year.

The number of patients with dengue and similar dengue symptoms in government and private hospitals has increased dramatically.

The confirmed patients are at Patna Medical College Hospital (PMCH), Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (IGIM) and the All-Indian Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) PATNA, etc.

Currently, four patients were admitted to IGIMS, while several others were screened in private hospital OPD including Paras, Medanta, Ruban and Mediversal, Samay, etc.

Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC) enhances fog and resists large sprays. To monitor activities, random verification calls are being made to residents.

If spraying is not performed in its area, citizens are urged to file a complaint at Job Seeker No. 1553304.

The PMC has called on residents to ensure they work with workers during the spray drive and stagnate in pots, coolers, AC trays or other containers.

Senior doctors warn that the situation may worsen due to ongoing monsoon rainfall and water supply.

Dr. Rajan Kumar of Patner Medical College and Hospital warned: “Ideal conditions for mosquito breeding may lead to further surges.”

Dr. Ajay Kumar Sinha of Nalanda Medical College and Hospital said prevention is key to dealing with vector-borne diseases. Residents are advised to follow the health department’s guidelines.
