Apple iPhone 17 series releases: iPhone 17 Pro Max, Pro, Standard and New iPhone 17 Air – Apple’s biggest upgrade expectation

Apple is preparing to launch its next-generation iPhone 17 series on September 9, 2025. The company has officially announced its “Awe Drops” event, which will begin at 10:30 p.m. at the Steve Jobs Theatre in Cupertino.

This year’s iPhone is expected to mark one of the biggest upgrades in recent years. From redesigned bodywork and new chipsets to advanced cameras and smaller models, the iPhone 17 lineup can set new benchmarks for Apple.

iPhone 17 series model

The iPhone 17 family is expected to include four models. These are the iPhone 17 Pro Max, iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 and a brand new slim variant called the iPhone 17 Air. The slim model is said to use an aluminum frame, which offers a lighter, thinner profile than the professional version that relies on titanium.

This approach shows that Apple wants to attract different types of users. The Pro series will continue to target performance-centric buyers, and the air model may appeal to those who prefer stylish and lightweight devices.

iPhone 17 color

Apple’s invitation design hints at the fresh colors of the new iPhone. The iPhone 17 Pro model is reportedly likely to arrive in black, white, gray, dark blue and orange. The standard iPhone 17 lineup may include black, white, tin grey, green, pink and light blue options.

The palette is expected to offer professional tones and bold shadows, giving users more options than they did in the past.

iPhone 17 design

Leaks suggest that Apple may slightly lower the position of the Apple logo on the iPhone 17 Pro model. This adjustment may also cause changes in the layout of the MagSafe magnets on the back of the phone.

It is rumored that the Pro model was transferred from titanium to an aluminum frame. Although the triangle layout of the lens may remain the same, a larger rectangular camera bump may appear on the rear panel, but may appear on the rear panel.

iPhone 17 display

All four models are expected to have a promotional display with a 120Hz refresh rate for the first time. This previously professional version of technology provides smoother scrolling and better video playback.

These displays may be LTPO OLED panels. While this allows the display feature to be always enabled, it’s still uncertain whether Apple offers that feature on each model or limits it to the Pro lineup.

iPhone 17 performance

The upcoming iPhone may be powered by the A19 Pro chipset. Based on the TSMC’s 3NM process, the chip is expected to perform faster and improve efficiency.

Additionally, Apple is expected to upgrade the memory of the entire lineup to 12GB of RAM. This change will support more demanding applications, seamless multitasking, and advanced Apple smart features.

iPhone 17 camera upgrade

The camera department is probably one of the most important improvements. All iPhone 17 models are expected to be equipped with a 24-megapixel front-facing camera, double the resolution of the iPhone 16 series. This will enable selfies and more detailed video calls.

At the back, the iPhone 17 Pro Max is expected to include three 48-megapixel sensors covering wide, ultra-wide and four-bar telephoto lenses. It may also support 8K video recording. The standard iPhone 17 may have a dual-lens setup, while the Slim iPhone 17 Air may have a single 48-megapixel sensor.

Exclusive features of iPhone 17 Pro

It is rumored that the Pro model includes a mechanical aperture system, which provides users with manual control of light entry and depth. This will be the first for Apple’s smartphones.

Other supported features may include dual video recording, where users can capture the lens from the front and rear cameras at once, and a continuation of 5x telephoto zoom, which is not available on the standard version or the air version.
