The Philippine Statistics Agency (PSA) reported on Friday that August’s title inflation was as high as 1.5%.

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) last month was faster than 0.9% in July, but slower than the 3.3% recorded a year ago.

Prints for August fell within the central bank’s forecast for 1%-1.8% this month, but slightly higher than the median estimate of 1.3% in a business world poll conducted last week on 16 analysts.

August also marks the sixth month of inflation to be set at the 2-4% target range of Sentral Ng Pilipinas (BSP).

Title inflation averaged 1.7% over the first eight months, comparable to BSP’s 2025 target.

Meanwhile, the core inflation rate excluding volatile prices of food and fuel accelerated to 2.7% from 2.3% in July and 2.6% last year. The average was 2.4% between January and August.
