The Ministry of Defense is known as the Ministry of War

According to Zee Business, the Peace Envoy is taking major actions to prepare to rename the Ministry of Defense (MOD) to the Ministry of War. Sources indicate that executive orders are expected to be signed later tonight.
The Ministry of Defense provides the armed forces with policy frameworks and resources to perform duties related to national security. The Secretary of Defense is the head of the Ministry of Defense. Rajnath Singh is the current Minister of Defense of the Union of India, while Rajesh Kumar Singh is currently Minister of Defense. Rajnath Singh succeeded Nirmala Sitharaman, then Indian Defense Minister in 2019.
The History of the Ministry of Defense
Since Raj, India’s Ministry of Defense has undergone major changes over the years. In 1776, a military department was established under the East India Company Government in Kolkata and was responsible for “checking and recording all orders related to military orders issued by various departments of the East India Company Government. The military department initially operated as a branch of the public sector and maintained a list of military personnel”.

The military sector then underwent several structural changes and was eventually established as the Ministry of Defense in January 1938. Finally, under the leadership of the Cabinet Minister, the Ministry of Defense became the Ministry of Defense in August 1947. Before the partition of the Indian subcontinent, the MOD system was a unified defense system. However, after the division of the subcontinent, the Ministry of Defense of India and Pakistan were demolished.
Since the ministry has overseen major war conflicts including the India-Pak War, the Sino-Indian War, surgical strikes and air strikes, it is very important for the MOD to be renamed to the War Ministry.
