Good reasons why BGC Charity Day raises $14 million worldwide in 2025

The BGC Group raised a record $14 million (£11.2 million) in the annual BGC Charity Day, the highest in the event’s 21-year history.

Since its inception in 2005, the event has generated more than $234 million in stakes worldwide in honor of 658 BGC colleagues and 61 European-born employees who died in the 9/11 attack.

Each year, 100% of the revenue and brokerage committees in a day transaction are donated directly to charities.

Star power enhancement

This year’s London Trade Building (Ray Winstone), Hugh Grant, Lily James, Billie Piper, Sir Gareth Southgate, Sir Tom Hardy, Tom Hardy, Davina McCall, Holly Willoughby, Amanda Holden, Michael McIntyre and Navy HRH Princess Beatrice appeared.

Sean Windeatt, co-CEO and COO of BGC Group, said the atmosphere sets the event apart: “The energy on the deal building is different from anything else – it elevates the entire team, brings everyone together, creates a sense of purpose and pride that lasts for a long time.”

Support charities in the UK and beyond

There are over 60 charities in the UK that will benefit, including help for heroes, help for love, space for giants, grief encounters, HVH Arts, Kelly Sherlock Trust, Daim Kelly Sherlock Hospice, Haven House Children’s Hospice, Muscle Insufficiency, laureus for Good and Pearl Fund, initiated by England rugby star Maro Itoje.

HVH Arts CEO Debbi Clark said BGC Charity Day sometimes represents one-third of the charity’s annual revenue: “This allows us to provide important programs that give vulnerable children access to artistic, mentoring and creative opportunities that they wouldn’t have otherwise.”

For smaller charities, impact is particularly important. Andy Watts, head of the partnership at Grace Encounter, said: “As a smaller charity that relies entirely on voluntary contributions, the funds raised will have a significant impact on our work.

Globally

The 2025 event was held in London, New York, Paris, Singapore, Hong Kong, St. Paul and Sydney, highlighting its global scope.

New research from the Charity Aid Foundation shows that 75% of businesses in the UK do not provide charitable support in 2024, BGC Charity Day remains a significant source of funding for charities under financial pressure.
