Hall of Fame member McEnroe announces Carlos Alcaraz The most complete player he has ever met is also a game-changing champion.
Speech Steve Weissman of Tennis Channel Laver Cup in San Francisco, McEnroe Bjorn Borgsaid he did not see a champion with the skills of a 22-year-old champion.
“I’ve watched tennis for 50 years – in a sense – obviously we’ve been through a while and I mean my idol worship [Laver]I just said that,” McEnroe said. “I have to fight against Jimmy Connors, Ivan Lendl against Bjorn Borg. My three greatest competitors.
“What followed was these nobles – their names were Becker, Edberg, Agassi, Sampras. You were like: Oh my god, that’s amazing.
“Suddenly, another guy from Spain somehow appeared. I remember he was about 17. Hey, this guy has some talent and that guy was there very quickly. I’ve never had my craziest dream and I’ll tell you all the players of my age, I’ve never seen this player, I’ve never seen this good player, it’s the last two years, three years, three years.”
“I’ve never seen such a great player, it’s complete.”

McEnroe said that six-time Grand Slam champion Alcaraz not only possesses devastating full-game skills, he has no positive influence in court.
Devotional Service and McEnroe claims that Alcaraz, one of the best volleyballers in the game, will change the sport by restoring the front game where Sampras himself declared his death after retirement.
“I’m very jealous of that damn smile with you,” McEnroe said. “Thank God for Carlos Alcaraz and what he brought to the table…
“You can’t see that much volleyball [in today’s game]. But I think that will change because of him. You talk about breathing fresh air when we need it in a desperate situation. When we think: Oh my God, what should we do? These three guys are done. Two quit smoking, Novak suddenly looks like a human.
“So there is [Alcaraz] Jannik comes in and now everyone else is going to chase and try to catch up, which is great. ”
