Ankle injury will keep Alcaraz away from Shanghai Masters – Tennis Now

Carlos Alcaraz won his eighth title of 2025 this week in Tokyo, winning his eighth title of 2025 on his debut.
More evidence shows that the Spaniard is on the top of the world in what he calls his best season. But the world’s No. 1 will require some downtime, so he will have to skip Shanghai Master.
Alcaraz, 22, broke the news about social interaction, saying he had to take some time to get his anke healed.
“I’m disappointed to announce that I won’t be able to play Rolex Shanghai Masters this year,” he wrote on Instagram. “Unfortunately, I’ve been working on some physical issues and after discussing with the team, we thought the best decision was to rest and recover.”
Alcaraz is 67-7 and is the sixth man to win eight championships in a season this century.
He has 24 titles and is ranked ninth on his all-time roster to win the championship before he was 23 years old. The Spaniard will turn 23 on May 5 next year. With the victory in Tokyo, Alcaraz tied Alexander Zverev with most champions born after 1990 – Alcaraz was born in 2003.
