Roger Federer may have retired from the ATP Tour, but the Swiss master’s smooth serve still attracts admiration and some playful criticism. Federer posted a video on Instagram on Monday showing off his signature serve, looking as graceful as ever on the court. But a familiar opponent won’t let him go so easily.
Enter Andy Murray.
The Scot, never one to miss an opportunity for some friendly banter, cheekily chimed in with the comment: “If you could disguise your throws better you’d be a better player.”
This sentence is full of Murray’s classic dry humor, which immediately caused laughter and enthusiastic reactions from fans. While the two legends have met 25 times on tour, with Federer leading the Scot 14-11 in the Lexus ATP Head2Head Series, it’s clear that the ironic scoreboard may tilt in Murray’s favour, even in retirement.
Federer has been all over the place in the past month. The former PIF ATP No. 1 player attended the Laver Cup, co-founded by Federer and his management company, as usual. Later, he visited the Rolex Shanghai Masters and witnessed Valentin Vacherot’s victory.
