Rookie Tian pulled off a stunning 6-3, 3-6, 7-6(6) victory over Cameron Norrie at the Mosel Open in Metz on Saturday to win his first ATP Tour title.

The 19-year-old American was 1/5 behind in the final set tie-break but turned the match around with a free swing to claim the biggest win of his fledgling career. Tenn will make his debut in the top 30 of the PIF ATP Rankings, becoming the first American teenager to win an ATP Tour title since 19-year-old Andy Roddick in 2002.

“I never take it for granted, just coming out here and competing. So, holding this trophy means the world to me. I’m really grateful,” Tian said during the trophy ceremony. “I want to thank my team, thank the people here, thank the people back home for their support, thank them for everything they’ve done this whole year, it means the world to me.

“No matter where you are, I always feel loved and supported. I’m really grateful for each and every one of you. I really couldn’t have achieved this success without all of you, so thank you.”

Norrie, who lost the Metz final in 2024, seemed ready to avenge last year’s heartbreak, but ultimately fell short. He will finish the season with a 34-26 record, according to the Infosys ATP Win/Loss Index.

After finishing runner-up at the Next Generation ATP Finals hosted by PIF last year, Tiann burst onto the scene in 2025. The southpaw has five wins over top-10 players this year and reached his first tour-level final at the ATP 500 in Beijing, where he lost to Jannik Sinner. Three matches later, the 19-year-old became the ATP Tour champion.

Former world No. 2 Michael Chang joined Tian’s coaching staff in August and was on the sidelines in Metz to celebrate his thrilling decider win over Norrie to improve his record to 3-1 in the Lexus ATP head-to-head series.
