Novak Djokovic Dream of ending your career with a sparkling farewell.
The 38-year-old Serbian superstar defeated Lorenzo Musetti in Athens on Saturday to capture the 101st title of his career.
While much of the attention in the tennis world has been focused on Djokovic’s pursuit of a 25th career Grand Slam title, he has cited one very special event as his ideal exit event.
The defending Olympic gold medalist said he dreams of representing Serbia at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
“Throughout my life and career I’ve always had this idea, I’ve always had a timeline in my head of a year or more of what I wanted and how I wanted to achieve it,” Djokovic told media in Athens.
“Now that I have achieved all my possible goals, the reason why I talk about the 2028 Olympics is because I want to play for many more years. So maybe it would be nice to finally go to the Olympics with the Serbian flag.”
The man who reached the semifinals of all four Grand Slams this season won his last Grand Slam title at the 2023 US Open.
At the 2024 Paris Olympics, Djokovic won his first gold medal without losing a set, defeating Matthew Ebden, main rival Rafael Nadal, Dominik Kopfer, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Lorenzo Musetti and Carlos Alcaraz 7-6, 7-6. Djokovic likely believes that the best-of-three sets at the Olympics give him a better chance of beating Alcaraz or Janik Sinner than the best-of-five sets at the Grand Slams.

The former world number one’s comments about ending his illustrious career in Los Angeles echoed comments he made earlier this season.
“The only thing I think about, the only thing that motivates me is the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles,” Novak said. Slaven Bilic in an interview in June.
In Paris, Djokovic made history by becoming the oldest man to compete in and win an Olympic gold medal in tennis.
If Djokovic does participate in the Los Angeles Olympics, he will already be 41 years old. Djokovic is one of only three men in history to compete in an Olympic gold medal match over the age of 30.
His rise to gold in Paris was historic: Djokovic joined Steffi Graf, Andre Agassi, Rafael Nadal and Serena Williams as one of five players to win all four majors and Olympic singles gold.
After setting the gold standard, the Serbian superstar called it “arguably the greatest success I’ve ever had.”
“I’m so proud, so happy, so excited to have the opportunity to compete for a gold medal for my country and win a gold medal for my country for the first time in my career. It’s arguably the biggest success I’ve ever had,” Djokovic said.
“Of course I’ve won everything I could possibly win in my career. But to win the Davis Cup and especially to win an Olympic gold medal at 37 years old is unprecedented.”
