January marks the return of tennis, and the biggest servers in the sport are leaving no stone unturned to leave their mark. At the Fed Cup, Hubert Hurkacs helped Poland win the title with a series of masterful serving performances. The 28-year-old won four of the five matches in the mixed team event, hitting 21 aces against Alexander Zverev and Talon Grikspoor before adding 18 more aces in a decisive victory against Stan Wawrinka in the final.
In Auckland, Jakub Mensik captured the ATP 250 crown and did so in the most crucial moment of his championship match against Sebastian Baez. With the first set tied at 1-1, the 20-year-old Czech player hit four aces in a row to end the match with an impressive 18 aces.
Auckland’s Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard also produced late drama when he saved a match point against Cameron Norrie with a fearless second serve. The Frenchman hit 25 aces in the quarter-finals.
