ATP No. 1 club member Mats Wilander is among the former stars taking part in the ATP and WTA Alumni Golf Championships on Monday during the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells.
The gathering, held annually during the BNP Paribas Open in the California desert, gives former ATP players a chance to reconnect in a relaxed environment. About 50 participants took part in this year’s event, swapping their tennis rackets for golf clubs for a friendly morning game.
Wilander, who has won seven Grand Slam titles in his career and spent 20 weeks at the top of the PIF ATP Rankings, is one of the standouts heading into this year’s event. Taylor Fritz’s father, Guy Fritz, and fellow Brazilian Rogerio Dutra Silva were also in attendance.
After the game, participants gathered for lunch and an awards ceremony to continue the day’s social events, which have become a highlight of former players’ visits to Indian Wells. Former world number 36 Francisco Gonzalez was also in attendance and participated in the lunch portion of the event.
