British banking analysts sentenced to ten years in Saudi jail, apparently in a tweet
Dubai, United Arab Emirates (AP) – According to his lawyer, a British Bank of America analyst has been sentenced to ten years in a Saudi Arabian prison, apparently on social media posts since then.
Ahmed Al-Doush's family believes the allegations against him stem from a deleted tweet about Sudan that did not mention Saudi Arabia and its relationship with the son of an exiled Saudi critic.
The Saudi Arabian Press Office and the British Foreign Office did not respond to requests for comment.
He was charged with violating terrorism and counter-cyclical crime laws on Monday.
“The exact tweet is unknown,” Al-Doush's international consultant Haydee Dijkstal posted the platform on Tuesday, formerly known as Twitter. “His trial and detention involves impartial trials and violations of procedures.
The 41-year-old British national was arrested at Riyadh Airport in August and tried to travel with his family to Manchester, England. After that, his wife gave birth to a fourth child.
“I rarely talk to my husband, but in the few robbery conversations we had, it was clear that Ahmed was struggling.” Al-Doush's wife, Amaher Nour, said ahead of her husband's sentencing that the stronghold was problems and pain caused by the thyroid and was sentenced to jail nine months later.
These developments come after U.S. President Donald Trump’s in Saudi Arabia, where several dual nationals with Western ties and Saudis have been detained on social media in recent years, posts that have been crucial to Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
