Deaf Assistance Relief DA DR Update Mamata Banerjee West Bengal Govt Clears Outstanding Membership Fees within 3 months by Supreme Court Order

The Supreme Court instructed the State Government, led by Mamata Banerjee of West Bengal, to clear the Outstanding Dear Allowance (DA) dues to eligible employees over the next three months. This could provide relief to state government staff in the form of unexpected gains due to sudden releases. Dear allowance is a special allowance designed to compensate central and state administrators, public sector employees and pensioners to increase the cost of living. In other words, precious allowances are designed to help offset the impact of inflation on the purchasing power of qualified people.

How much dear allowance can state government staff expect?

The report said the Supreme Court has directed the state to pay a 25% premium allowance within three months.

Earlier, a group of West Bengal government staff turned to the Kolkata High Court for help seeking precious allowances to work with the central government.

In May 2022, the Kolkata High Court directed the West Bengal government to pay the DA at the central government interest rate.

The West Bengal government then challenged the ruling in November 2022 in the country's Supreme Court.

Since then, the state has announced some precious allowances. However, the state's DA rate is still significantly lower than that of the central government. The gap is reportedly 37%.
