U.S. President Trump talks with Ukrainian President Zelensky on Monday with Russian President Putin

U.S. President Donald Trump said he will talk separately with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Monday to push for a ceasefire agreement between the two countries.

“I will address Russian President Vladimir Putin by phone,” Trump said in a post on truth socialization on Saturday.

Trump said he will “then talk to Ukrainian President Zelensky and then to various NATO members Zelensky.”

“Hopefully this will be a productive day” and “a ceasefire will occur,” he said.

At the end of the meeting in Istanbul in Turkey on Friday, delegations from Russia and Ukraine agreed to hold new negotiations and conducted a large-scale prisoner exchange. According to Xinhua News Agency, as a key result of the two-hour dialogue, the two sides agreed to exchange 1,000 prisoners in all aspects.

Earlier on Thursday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said the Ukrainian delegation would participate in the upcoming peace talks in Istanbul, promising to end the conflict with Russia, although he would not appear at the negotiating table in person.

Zelensky told reporters that Ukraine would send a delegation to Istanbul after meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Zelensky said Ukraine remains committed to dialogue but expressed doubts about Moscow's intentions.

He told reporters that Ukraine did not see any “any decision-maker” whose Russian delegation attended the talks.

Zelensky said the delegation would be led by Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov and professionals including military and intelligence personnel, noting that Ukraine is awaiting confirmation from Washington and Moscow, following the exact schedule of the talks.
