Teenage boy died after “disturbance” on the beach, bystanders filmed
A teenager died after harassment on a beach in Ayrshire, Scotland.
Police called on any witnesses at Irvine Beach on Saturday to step up.
The report said the riots were called to the area at 6.45 p.m. Saturday.
A 16-year-old boy from East Kilbride, South Lanarkshire was found seriously injured. The boy was appointed Kayden Moy.
He was taken to the hospital but died early Sunday morning.
The main investigative team of the Scottish police has launched an investigation.
Detective Attorney General Campbell Jackson said it was believed that “several people” had been filming on their phones at the time of the incident.
He urges anyone with information or camera to step up.
“Extensive investigations are underway to determine the full picture surrounding this death,” he said.
“Our officers support the boy’s family during this very difficult and heartbreaking time.
“From the investigation so far, we know that during the harassment period, there are many people on the beach.
“We believe there were several shots of what might have happened at the time.
“I urge people to review the videos they have and contact the police if they think the captured videos may have significant significance for our investigation.”
Detectives have set up a website to allow the public to submit information directly to the team, which may be anonymous.
Principal Jim McMillan added: “We understand that this death will attract attention to the local community, but rest assured that we are doing everything we can to identify those involved.
“When we conduct the inquiry, there will be other patrols in the area and anyone in doubt can approach these officials.”
