The FBI says

The FBI said Sunday it believed the suspect was described as “intentional act of terrorism” at a California fertility clinic Saturday, the only person killed in the incident.

Akil Davis, assistant director of the FBI's Los Angeles field office, said Sunday that the agency believes the suspect identified as 25-year-old Guy Edward Bartkus died in the attack. Four others were injured, officials said.

Saturday's explosion plagued the single-story American Reproductive Center clinic in upscale Palm Springs, although a doctor told the Associated Press staff were safe.

“Thank God today is a day when we have no patients,” Dr. Maher Abdallah, who leads the clinic, told the Associated Press in a telephone interview Saturday.

Embryos that were not stored inside the clinic were injured by the explosion, officials said Sunday.

Investigators said the suspect posted a book online and tried to record the explosion, although authorities said the video failed to upload online. An official who had no authority to discuss details of the attack spoke with the Associated Press on anonymity.

“This subject has a nihilistic conception, a targeted attack on the IVF facility,” Davis said on Sunday.

“No doubt. We see it as intentional act of terrorism.”
